PNC-27 is a peptide composed of p53 residues 12-26 fused to a transmembrane-penetrating sequence. It selectively binds HDM-2 in cancer cell membranes, inserts into the membrane and forms pores that induce necrosis in cancer cells while sparing normal cells. PNC-27 is used in research on cancer therapeutics and selective cytotoxicity.
